Most of us envision Africa as a dry continent known only by sand dunes, camels, lions and zebras. Contrary to popular belief, our evolutionary origins lie in Africa where the earliest humans settled. Not all of the continent is dry or desert-like; in fact the southern part of Africa has savanna plains and rainforest regions. Africa indeed is the hottest continent with recorded temperatures reaching as high as 58 °C. With extreme environments like this, one can expect exotic places, diversed African societies as well as beautiful creatures that Africa has made to evolve.

These facts has made Africa a great place to travel or what game-hunters call it, a safari. With this, let me share to you top 10 lists of the Best Reasons to why have an African Safari.

1 - Riding Hot Air Balloon over Serengeti

This is a favorite of mine. It’s probably the most underrated if not, the least known activity to tourists in Africa. Hot air balloon rides offer the most scenic and romantic view of the beautiful Serengeti - an ecosystem located north of Tanzania. A wonderful place to plan a marriage proposal.
2 - The Egyptian Pyramids

The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are among the world’s most recognizable locations truly because of its wonderful origins. These notable wonders of Africa are among the most sought after tour places making an African adventure incomplete without being able to visit this place. The best time to visit the place is during morning before sunrise so that you will see the panoramic beauty of the pyramids while the sun is setting up.
3 - Sahara Desert

The Sahara desert is popularly known as the largest hot desert of the world. With over 9,400,00 square kilometres, the Saharra desert covers most of north Africa making it almost as large as the Unites States or China. Its outskirt stretches from the Red Sea up to the Atlantic Ocean. Tourists can enjoy a variety of activities in the Sahara Desert like camping, camel treks, etc.
4 - Mozambique's Marine Life

Mozambique homes many untouched marine life, making it an ideal spot for a superb scuba diving experience. Around Mozambique are remote islands which sport outstanding marine life. One of them is the Bazaruto archipelago which is highly regarded for its pristine reefs and clear waters. Tourists are welcome to take short courses about marine life as well as scuba diving to let them see the richness and beauty of the marine life found in Mozambique.
5 - Victoria Falls

Witness this breath-taking event only in Africa. Over 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from Serengeti plains to the hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara. There’s really no beginning nor end of this journey. It is an endless pilgrimage of wildebeest in constant search for food and water. It is believed that such journey starts by the moment wildebeest calves are born which usually happens during the months of January-March.

Africa is the home of the world’s largest wildlife community. By visiting Africa, you will have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the famous “Big Five” namely; the African Elephant, the Black rhinoceros, cape buffalo, lion and leopard. Most of all, you can visit many places in Africa that will let you realize and appreciate the beauty of nature.
